GeoGabra 4

I am so happy that they are updating GeoGabra. The new things that we are able to do is so cool. This will make my life so much easier. I know that this will cut down my time spent on working on examples for class. I am hopping that they can come out with a couple more tutorials. They were able to give me a lot of good ideas. I think that it will be fun for the kids too. I would like to have a couple of updates on what I can do with posting geogabra on blogger.com without having to resize it. I am also looking forward to having my kids do the viz that I worked on today. I think that they will have a lot of fun with it and be very interested in it in the long run. I will just have to make sure to check on the computer lab before I get them started.

Here's hopping

Game Reviews: Do They Matter?

Questions:

1. Make some predictions about what types of games have a higher Game Rankings Score and also sold more Units. Support your answer.

2. Make some predictions about what types of games have a lower Game Ranking Score and also sold less Units. Support your answer.

3. Looking at the first graph, is there a relationship between Game Rankings Score and Units Sold? If so, what type of relationship is this? Support your answer.

4. In the "Game" bar type in 5 of your favorite games and list the Game Name, Units Sold, Average Game Ratings Score, Developer and Country. Do you see a trend among the game you have chosen. If so, what is this trend?

5. On this graph what does the zero represent when looking at the number of Units Sold?

6. What do you predict the dashed line represents on the graph?

7. Looking at the second graph there is a dashed line does this represent a trend in the data? If so, why?

8. Make a table from 1998 to 2011 with the number of Units Sold and Average Game Ranking Score.

9. From the table in question 8 what do you notice about the data trend? Does it support your answer to question 7? If not, why do you think the graph is misleading?

10. Explain why for 2011 the Average Game Ranking Score is high, but barely any Units have sold?

Oh the math we have seen

Wow it is amazing how much you over think or over analyze information. I have defiantly been blown away on what are all the possibility's that we are able to do. Seeing all that Tableau was able to do was really baffling. I defiantly will have to play around with it some more. I thought that I was ok with fathom but I now realise that I still need to play around with it. I do need to also need more help of making sure to get quality data to mind and them have questions that will go along with the information. What I would like to use is taking Tableau into class with information and have the kids interpret the data with Algebra 2. I think they will have fun seeing how they can have different lines of best fit with different powers and tell me why they choose to use this. Support will be key.

Mind Blowing Day!

Today was such a great day. I was so happy with all of the information that I was able to learn today. I tell you what the  new fathom is so much easier to use. It is great. It took me a little to remember how to use it but once I got started I was able to get up and going. I was also so impressed today with the new technology that Robin's grad students are creating. It is so great with what they are doing. Once they get it up and going there is so much that we can use it for. Just being able to do integrals and showing how something is rotating around and axes. I truly think that my students will really have fun with this. They will be able to relate. I can't wait to be able to use this. I am hoping that I will be able to think about the strategies that I can combine to use this for school and not having the technologies available at other schools.

Dance with Connects:

  •          Change in curriculum to increase thinking and engagement: When I am teaching my students I know that if it is relatable to them they will pay attention. It is so much better when they can discuses about it. I have found that before I get started with my students I have them answer a question(s) about or relating to what we are going to be doing that day and then take time to talk about a few of them.
  •          Learn today: I had so much fun using the x-box today. I know that I will be able to apply this to my classroom and maybe use it to have my students have a unit on it. I am sure that my students could even apply this even more if it means that they get to play.
  •          Want to learn: I want to be able to find more places to get technology for my students without paying for it.
  •          Biggest challenge with mathematics, vocabulary, and needs: I have found that when I am teaching Geometry and Algebra 2 that building on previously taught vocabulary or having the vocabulary be cross curriculum. Not just coming from me but from other teachers.
  •         Process help: I have found that using the 5 C’s all of my students are able to retain the vocabulary and the concepts. It is also helpful to remember that math is another language. In fact I took a couple of ESL classes this summer to better reach the students.
